Does lone worker solution include GPS tracking?

A GPS coordinate is useless if it only reaches your desk after the worker is already found.
In Australia and New Zealand, knowing where a worker was an hour ago doesn’t save a life during a critical window. Under the WHS Act 2011 (AU) and HSWA 2015 (NZ), you are legally required to manage the risks of isolated work, which includes having a reliable means of locating a worker in distress.

Locating workers is a legal mandate, not a convenience
Australian and New Zealand legislation requires PCBUs to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers. If a worker fails to check in or an alert is triggered, your ability to provide a timely rescue depends entirely on accurate, real-time location data.

The dangerous gap between vehicle tracking and worker protection
Many organisations mistakenly rely on vehicle telematics, but vehicle GPS is often a fleet management tool, not a safety solution. We’ve found that many vehicle systems simply store location data until the driver returns to cellular coverage, leaving you blind during an actual emergency. Furthermore, a vehicle’s location is not the worker’s location once they leave the cab and enter a building or a remote site.

Genuine protection requires a live breadcrumb trail
True protection means a wearable device sending updated GPS location to a server every 60 seconds, creating a “breadcrumb trail” for rescuers. For remote areas, you need Satellite connectivity to bypass cellular dead zones; for indoor environments, we implement indoor locating beacons to fill the GPS gap. This ensures that whether your worker is in a city office or the remote bush, their exact position is known the moment an alert is raised.
